Job Description – Part-Time Upper School Math Teacher, 6-12 

 

Job Summary:

James Island Christian School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time High School Math Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will teach math courses aligned with state standards and school curriculum, inspire students to develop analytical and problem-solving skills, and contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment. This position is ideal for educators who are committed to student success and flexible with scheduling.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree or higher, Certified by the state of South Carolina, and/or Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), or eligible for certification.

Spiritual Qualifications:

A teacher at James Island Christian School is a professed believer in Jesus Christ. He/she believes that the Bible is God’s Word and the standard for daily living. The JICS teacher is equipped with spiritual maturity, academic ability, and leadership qualities to nurture and grow students spiritually, academically, physically, and emotionally for life and eternity. The JICS teacher must be in direct alignment with the school’s mission, philosophy, and statements of belief.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and effective instruction in high school math subjects (e.g., Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry).

Develop lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with curriculum standards

Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing regular feedback and support

Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and communications with students and parents

Foster a safe and respectful classroom environment

Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff

Participate in department meetings and professional development as required

Uphold school policies, values, and mission

Work Schedule:

Approximately [10–20] hours per week

Flexible schedule based on course assignments and availability

May include occasional meetings or school events
