Searching for church staff can be expensive.  When a church brings in a candidate to get to know them in person, there is the cost of travel, hotel and meals. The more candidates a church brings in the greater expense in this area. If the church does not end up hiring the initial candidates that are brought in, more money can be spent than was initially budgeted. As a pastor, I have experienced having to have more money approved for the staff search budget because the search process was going longing than anticipated.

One of the areas that should not drain the budget is in the area of advertising. But this is area that a church can unexpectedly began to spend a lot of money. There are several free options for churches to consider as they begin to plan their advertising strategy.

At Church Jobs Cafe, we offer free postings but there are also several other options for free job postings. Here are a some to consider:

The Gospel Coalition
The Gospel Coalition Job Board is a great way to get free exposure to pastors and ministry leaders searching for jobs.

ChurchJobsOnline.com

HireAYouthPastor.com
A great resource for posting your open student ministry positions.

SimplyHired.com
Simply Hired will also post your job to hundreds of other job boards for free

Indeed.com
Indeed is one of the largest job sites and offers a free job posting option.

If your church is associated with a denomination, always keep in my their job boards or seminaries associated with the denomination. They normally  offer free job postings and a place that pastors within your denomination are most likely checking for positions. If you are a non-denominational church, two highly visible job boards are MinistryList provided by Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Denver Seminary’s Job Board.

One other thing to consider is to use your own church’s blog. When you blog about your open staff position, search engines will capture that article into their search directory. Someone might search for ‘Worship Pastor jobs in Chicago” and come upon your blog. During my seasons of searching for a new position I have found open positions this way.
